At a time when much of the travel industry is struggling to cope with returning demand, essentially "caught out by the upside", it is hugely rewarding to see that Amadeus continues to use scenario planning to help them prepare for future uncertainty. Last summer, Matt Ranen and I had the opportunity to partner with Dr. Wolfgang Krips and his strategy team, to lead their Executive Committee through a comprehensive scenario strategy engagement. We not only stress-tested their assumptions around a potential post-pandemic recovery, we also explored the longer-term, structural drivers and uncertainties that may shape the future of travel. This work is now being embedded into the organisation, guiding their strategic choices and determining how best to serve future customer needs.
